Here is my first albumen print I ever done, got good result the first try, but wasn't so lucky with latter prints. Have been playing with the stuff for a few years now. Don't be affraid of it, it just requires a bit more preparation than other processes. Start a few weeks before you are ready to print, to age you albumen solution. I have a batch of aolution that as been aging in the fridge for over two months and should be ready to use soon, will post the result.

Sorry for this one is a lens capture from a 4 x 5 camera, but it is an example to get people interested!!

Is a 30 second print still instant gratification?

No problem with lens images on this DIY side; the important thing is the self-made albumen medium, over here.  And that one *is* nice.  I've been thinking I need to get some gelatin and try using that to make salt prints; less prep than albumen, and the gelatin can be held and reheated as long as it's only got the salt in it.  Otherwise, it's pretty much the same, only glossier...

Very beautiful print, Alvin. I love this nighttime snow scene with the wonderful toning. Great match for the process.
I"d love to try albumen printing sometime. Thanks for the inspiration!

Welcome to the world of albumen printers. When I began I too was successful with my first print - then had problems which took a while to overcome.
