View Full Version : Accessing Vest Pocket Auto bellows:rep

Unless it's corroded in place, I don't see a way to reach a rear connection point for deteriorating (WWI era) bellows. The larger 1A Jr back comes off, but VPA seems to only load from a slot at the top.

I've read some Kodak cameras you just have to cut the bellows and glue on the new one. If you're doing that, you might as well glue on a box instead... ;)

Didn't realize the Vest Pocket was a slot loader, though -- most likely under the leather covering there are screws that hold the whole thing together, but I'd hate to pull the leather up only to find out it's rivetted... :P

no leatherette on these to hide anything!

I have two of them and they both have SCREWS holding on the plate at the opposite side to the removable plate you use for film loading. [see the arrows] If your cam is a bit corroded or dirty the screw heads might not be so visible?

It looks like the back isn't actually bonded to the front so it might be worth unscrewing the screws to see what happens? [seam between front and back circled] But I suspect the bellows will be glued in place... Removed bottom screws, opened top, bellows, folding arms etc lift out, along with cobwebs.

It's nasty, but dry brush might do alot. Don't even think about inhaling.

Looks like alot of rust, mildew, etc. Might be able to clean up a reglue the open bellows seam.

The smaller screws holding the shutter front plate are really bad, too bad to use a screwdriver. The larger ones that hold the front standard to the folder are fine.

It's cleaning up nicely except for the shutter plate screws I had to grind off because they were so corroded.

Bellows actually look salvageable, just have to glue seam back down.

Gotta get the shutter off now as I bumped something wit ha cotton swab & it doesn't open now...Murray's Law of shutters...
