The Belgian Newspaper "De Morgen" shows his photographers old (or in this case not so old) paintings and gives them the instruction to shoot a photo of more or less the same place.
An example can be found here:

Wouldn't that be an idea for one of the following "call for uploads" ?
(If necessary, we could shorten the time for "old" and do not limit it to paintings, but also postcards, old photographs of the same location, even just a mark on a city map)
By the way, the "old" in the sample is a painting, but for me it could also be a B & W zoneplate, put in the sepia

I second this idea, gives us something to work on in the Rembrandt year 2006 (more or less famous dutch painter :-)

And it's a challenge, take a look at the great pictures by Tom Hunter for example.
Yes they are made with large format lens cameras, but I have seen some pinhole pictures in this forum that can challenge his work!
