i am looking for a quality negative scanner for 120 (6X6) and 4X5 Negatives. Is there a good negative scanner out there that will handle 4X5 Negatives?
Thanks

I'm using a long discontinued Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner for 4x5 negatives. Prints up to 16x20 from these scans satisfy my perhaps not too critical eye. The current Epson Perfection V700 Photo model http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=63056499 should be better, but more expensive. Click on scanners and then on the Epson model. Also, google for this model. This topic is discussed in detail on http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/login.php?do=login, [url] and other sites. Remember, for pinhole images, old scanners with even less resolution than my ancient Epson can record more detail than a pinhole camera can capture.

Thanks for the info Jim. The least expensive 4X5 scanner I can find is about $475.00. I suppose I could just get something for 120 size and down and send the 4X5's off for scanning. The Epson Perfection V700 is really nice though.

Sometimes adequate scanners show up on the used market as people upgrade. If you shop for these, make sure you get the negative holders. Holders can be improvised if you have at least one for an example.

I ended up buying an Epson V500 for just under $200 with shipping. I wont do 4X5, but I do have a way to get them scanned locally. Thanks for the help Jim.
