i just loved this picture, even though i did not make the camera...

it is from a fisher price "creative effects" camera. they make instant pictures but there is no film... they print on thermal paper like a fax machine or a recipt printer... really grainy, unpredictable, and beautiful

this is a father and son fishing at allen lake on the edge of a forest Attached files http://f295.f295.org/uploads/14_3063.jpg (http://f295.f295.org/uploads/14_3063.jpg)

i guess about 50,000 were made in a trial run but it was too costly to produce and they weren't very popular... i have seen 2 on ebay over the course of the last year and a half, one of wich is the one i got...
if you find one i can email you details on how to re-fill the "film" pack

I can see why you like this image. Sketchy and sparse, but intensely expressive.

I wonder if it's possible to reverse-engineer the technology and make a similar device. I'm thinking thermofax machines (whatever they are!). Great-- now we'll all be hunting the thrift stores for used fax machines to make cameras from ;D ;D ;D
They're probably a lot heavier than scanners! :-/
