I found an on-line article once on making pinholes in foil by an electronic method, allowing an electrolytic capacitor to discharge thru metal foil.

It allegedly made very smooth holes. The author also tried doing it thru a drop of oil (electrical discharge under oil rather than air.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried it. I'm sure I'll get around to it myself someday.

Don't all jump for the keyboard at once!

Murray,

I did try it, you can see the thread at http://f295.tompersinger.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?,b=cm,v=display,m=1119291765

My results were very poor. It is FAR easier to drill a pinhole, or to do the normal thing with dimpling, sanding, etc. and I think you'll get much better results. If you do try it and get it to work, be sure to report on your methods.
