View Full Version : Quick modification of fixed body Polaroid

Got the body off Ebay. The guy selling these had used the fancy aluminum duct tape to cover the 2" hole on the snoot and punch a hole. Not really my cup of tea, I like something a little more precise... A bit odd for pinhole cameras I guess. But anyway, its mine, I can do what I want! :)

So I removed his tape, cleaned it up, made some measurements and came up with ~150mm focal length. Also bought from Ebay a collection of pre-made pinholes (again, not my normal thing but what the hell, right?). PinholeBilly, sells a wide selection of body caps and I got one for my girlfriend for Xmas and decided to try his aperture kits. Kit included an 0.460mm hole so lets try that one.

And made a quickie shutter from some left over matboard. Simple sliding shutter. The rubber band seen in the photo is the "safety catch" holding down the little flap of black tape I will use as a handle for the slide.

Last bit was to put some little dots of white paint on the top of the camera to show estimate the angle of view for aiming.

Now all I need is some decent weather to go try it! Maybe at lunch time! Attached files http://f295.f295.org/uploads/pinhole001_8139.jpg (http://f295.f295.org/uploads/pinhole001_8139.jpg)

Quick test shot, seems to work OK. Bit of a color shift in the FP100 but not really surprised by that. 20 seconds and lots of flatly lit snow.

The image below is a quickie digi-cam copy of the print. Quite balance reasonably correct so you can see the color shift that happened. Attached files http://f295.f295.org/uploads/testshot001_small_7738.jpg (http://f295.f295.org/uploads/testshot001_small_7738.jpg)
