Great composition. The natural vignetting keeps your eye on the ball, so to speak.

Great composition. The natural vignetting keeps your eye on the ball, so to speak.
Thanks for the details David. The magnets are very clever idea and I'm sure work well. Nice shutter too. I don't see nice steel boxes like yours around these parts but I haven't looked very hard...
This is a great start Ned. Do you have a ground glass loupe? Seeing in the corners and edges can be tough but I have found if you angle your loupe or eye towards the lens opening it is easier to see....
[QUOTE=Ned.Lewis;127774]Hi Joe,
The only bad thing is that this beautiful old lens is on a camera made from foamcore and MDF... it deserves a beautiful handmade wooden camera, but I don't have the...
Excellent! Though these would stand on their own very well as conventional images, the frames add a graphic dimension that is effective. I like the second one best. The composition leads the eye...
That looks to be the 'Cats Meow'. Like the stairwell shot a lot. Any chance of seeing the shutter assembly. Well done. Jim
Great set of images Jimmy. Much improved. I agree with Ned that is a good photo maker you have there. I recently converted a 6x9 folder and I don't like the perspective. Too wide and distorted. I...
I too have read about self masking or reciprocity with POP papers but not sure I understand it. I guess it is basically the same thing with film. But with film it involves a time factor, ie. too long...
This is quite a project Joe. I like the fact the pixels are not all evenly round. It gives it a more organic look as opposed to technical clarity. It will be interesting to see what different subject...
Great start Ned. Your getting very nice dmax. Many salt print I have seen are very weak in the shadows but look almost like pencil drawings. Regarding brush marks that may be the way the paper is...
Great composition and execution of the image. NPI ;-) The only improvement I could think of would be hiring a model dressed in a flowing white gown and have her walk slowly though your composition...
Well done info-vid Joe. Regarding the under exposure of the test shot, does Harman Direct Positive have a reciprocity characteristic? I have never used it but am interested. Jim
I live on the South Fork of the Kern River. This shot is taken on the North or main fork of the river. It is a major water shed of the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains with it's head waters on the...
Great post. Looking forward to seeing some scans. Jim
Thanks for the compliment Martin. Rotating anything is of interest to me. Here is a lensed camera shot of rotating leaves.

Thanks Ned and DRC. I underexposed the second one, didn't factor in enough extra time for the bellows extension, but I think is works OK. Jim
Out and about in the Sequoia National Forest again. Found this lovely creek with cedars and willows and mixed conifers. These photos were made with a pinhole I put into an old shutter from a 6x9...
Great results Danny. I especially like the first one. The composition is very pleasing. Jim
Excellent composition, very intriguing. I'm relatively new here but feel welcome and I appreciate that. Happy New Year. Jim
Very interesting set. I too like the graphic elements in No. 1. Nos. 2 & 3 look like they are printed on handmade tissue, don't tell it's development problems. The last one looks like it is raining...
Thanks Ned and Jimmy. The framing, well that's BGBG. :)
Good show Joe! Sorry, couldn't help myself. There are a number of innovative features here and that shutter is too cool. Where would you suggest looking for cheapo meniscus lens? Jim
Thanks Joe and Earl for the compliments. Earl, are you still selling the pinholes? I'm converting a stereo camera to pinhole but don't think I can hand make a matching pair of apertures. Jim
I like this. Well done.
Very beautiful photographs. The second one is a classy shot of a class place. I would like to try a ZP in my 4x5 some day. I have a darkroom and some litho film but have no idea what size to make a...
