    The Glenlivet Vertical Populist

This camera came from several ideas.

First, I was thinking of making a 6x6cm camera with shorter length than the 85mm 6 x 9cm I had been working with and even shorter than the 60mm 120 Populist.

Second, my wife gave me a bottle of Glenlivet that came in this pretty sturdy cardboard box with pretty classy design.

Third, from the beginning of the Populist, people have complained about the tape on the outside corners. They either wanted the design already printed on the box to show, or wanted to put a design on it to make it look like a "real" camera. This is possible by lightproofing the camera from the inside.

So I thought I'd give it a shot.

Anyway, here's the result. except for some foamcore spacers to accommodate the width of the box, it's pretty much the standard populist design.

It turned out to be 45mm because that was the longest I could get it and still get the parts cut out of the box with the designs in the place I wanted it.

First shot is from the Stereo Populist, set up for crossed eyes. The rest are digicam images. Attached files

The winder is whittled from a branch from the privet hedge.

    Hey, neat camera, Nick.

Too bad you can't use the whiskey as developer.

Wait, what the heck am I thinking? Nevermind.

It’s a perfect and imaginative use for a nice labelled box. How come my bottle came with a cylindrical, already over utilized, tube? I am going to switch brand!

I would propose a wooden box from a Vintage Remy Martin Cognac 1965

I could help you if you have no need for the content of the box

Well, if you are a drinker and capitalistic enough to be the owner of this stuff,
I'm a smoker and the (temporary} proud owner of this stuff:
