    Stanley salt prints

This last August my wife and I stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. Though nothing went bump in the night for us, I did rattle around all hours setting up my pinhole and shooting. The first picture is in the MacGregor Room, and is a 16 minute pinhole exposure. It is also the image that was included in the Minneapolis Photo Center's 'Alternative Processes' show.

The second image is a 1 hour 45 minute pinhole exposure.

Gold/Ammonium Thiocyanate toner. Single coat of 15% silver nitrate, glass rod coated.

I did have another exposure that has some weird lights in it. Maybe one day I will post it and get some opinions as to what they might be. I can't think of anything myself that could explain them... Attached files

Glad I found these! Dave, you know how much I liked the second one at first sight, and still do. It may be the best play with dimension and space that I've ever seen in any photograph, let alone pinhole.

    Stanley salt prints

Dave came over to my house last weekend for a carbon tissue pour, and I got to hold these two prints in my hand. The monitor does not do them justice. The Bergger COT 320 is luxurious paper, and the ammonium chloride salt print (with gelatin size) gives a rich, purplish black that looks lovely on the cold white of the paper.

Dave, I wish you all the best in your efforts to find the graduate school of your dreams, and if I don't see you before then, have a wonderful Christmas!

    Tom:
I believe that this image is from the hotel where The Shining was filmed.
