It feels a privilege to be able to make an early comment on this recent image of yours Marv. I find the composition quite dynamic. I imagine you were pretty close to the creek/river edge to achieve this. The slight 'crocodilian' aspect of this old log gives it certain sinister edge.

The ice was "just" thick enough support the front leg of my tripod Sean, so yes, you could say I was close to the river. Actually this is a backwater slough along the Mississippi River. Had the ice been strong enough I would have gotten closer and done some ice abstracts. Now the scene is blanketed in snow so it will be a couple months until we get ice back in view.

I really like this one Marv. Just the right foreground to background information. Nicely composed.

Lovely ice, as usual, Marv. I discovered today that I still have two of your killer lensed view camera ice images to frame up. I will have to find them a place of honor on The Wall.
