Dublin - Grand Canal Docks
Dublin is a wonderful city. The city is not so big, about 500'000 residents, but the variety of different architecture styles surprises. Within an hour you can plunge into the atmosphere of Middle Ages, the Victorian Age or visit an ultramodern city of the future. Sometimes everyhing combined in one house.

The Grand Canal docks. The "box" on the left is the Waterways Ireland Visitor Centre, showing the history of the waterways from the pre Christian period to its modern use.

The Grand Canal theatre opened in spring 2010 is an example of an ultramodern building built by the architect Daniel Libeskind.

The Grand Canal flows in the river Liffey. On the other side of the river on the left an other very modern building, the Convention Center Dublin designed by the Irish-born architect Kevin Roche. Soon after the opening in 2010 the Dublin people named it the "pint". To date, the CCD has won 15 industry awards, including ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ and Gold for ‘Access Excellence’ at the Meetings and Incentive Travel Industry Awards 2012.

Nice series. My favorites are the first two because of the reflections on the water.

Many thanks for your very kind comments
The Grand Canal Docks is an interesting area with a lot of contrasts between old and new buildings.

Beautiful series of images. Dublin would be proud of these, I'm sure. My personal favorites are 2, 4 and five -- such wonderful compositions.

One of my favourite parts of the city.
The composition in number 4 is masterful.
