Jamestown Elementary School

From the roof of Jamestown Elementary School in Arlington VA. This was shot during their 16 day Christmas break. I'm teaching pinhole there to the fifth graders this week. Their teacher used one of my Pop Top pinhole cameras and shot around the school. I'm bringing my tent camera obscura so they can draw and tube cameras to take B&W photos with. It should be a blast.

Kids are going to get some fun out of your lessons.
Can I ask what size the paper is when you put it in your camera and is this image cropped because I imagine that the paper wraps almost right around but there is little falloff compare to a normal pinhole shot from a tube design camera like this one.

I used half a sheet of 5x7 inch paper and the camera was a soda can. I use a dermal tool to cut the top off above the bend on one can and below the bend on another, this gives me two pieces that friction fit tight

Here I am with Ms Gaynor as we show her 5th grade class how to set up a pinhole shot with still life objects in the foreground.

These are some of the processed negatives. Next week the students will use their iPads to capture and reverse the negatives then add other elements to them.

Here is a shot that the teacher made with one of my Pop Top Pinhole soda can cameras earlier in the year. All of her students thought it was a spy camera because it looked just like a regular can of Pepsi.
