These are from a visit to friends in mid Wales a while back.
First is at the Elan Valley visitor centre.
The Elan Valley has a collection of reservoirs that were built to provide Birmingham with water back in Victorian times; they are still doing the job admirably.
There are no pumps involved, the water runs downhill all the way and it takes about a week to make the journey.
The system works so well because there is plenty of rain water available to keep the reservoirs full, and sure enough it was pouring down when we visited, this statue is a tribute to the bloke who built the dams, there have been suggestions that he got his mates to help him.
Anyway it was raining while I stood for several damp minutes waiting for the photons to accumulate on the roll of Acros 100 in my Zero 2000. I rather like the fact that there was not enough light to illuminate his face.
