Harman DPP Speed Testing

Yesterday I completed a video about performing ISO speed testing on Harman Direct Positive Paper. I hope you find it informative.

PS: You might have noticed on the two darker prints that the left and right borders have a strip of white, this was because my new Jobo extension tube doesn't have the ridges for 4-by-5 paper, so I had to tape the paper to the inside of the tank with drafting tape. The other two prints were in the bottom, original part of the tank.

I'm amazed that not only did the prints stay put without the tape coming undone while being wetted, but that only 100ml of solution is required.

did you pre flash?

at the moment I'm working positive prints using normal bromide paper, okay it isn't direct like the Harman Ilford and needs two developers and re exposing .

Yes, my standard pre-flashing for this paper, about half of what I give to negative paper.

I understand from comments over on APUG that the Galaxy paper is not direct positive like Harman, it's a negative paper with much faster speed. Looking forward to your comments about it when you have a try at working with it.

Thank you for all the work you are doing with the direct positive paper. I too am working with this paper, I process in Ilford Warmtone paper dev at 20c for 5 minutes in a small tray holding 100ml of working solution. Dilution is 1+9. Agitation is constant by gently lifting oposing corners. I too use a Luna Pro. I mostly meter by incident though sometimes by reflected with a grey card other times without. Depends on the lighting situations. I totally agree with your findings of ISO 6-9. I u se the above routine for Indoor by window light, Outdoor in full sunlight (which here in Maryland is 1/asa @ f11) Outdoors in subdued light EV7 1sec @f11. I preflash the paper for 15 seconds through and old enlarger with the lens stopped down all the way. I have been using this with 4x5 in a Speed graphic, a wood and brass field camera with a 200mm Imagon portrait lens, a 9x12 Russian photokor, a Polaroid 800 folder even a Kodak Medalist with sheet film back. I have done 8 minute exposures with a Zero Image 4x5 pinhole. My results are usually predictable, usually I said. The color temperature of the light sometimes messes with my exposures. Fresh chemestry is important it seems.
