Century used to perfect soft focus lens,What do we know to design such pinsieve

Its a thin line to define art , only the good art guides us. I found I love pinsieve images of low contrast autumn boat harbour water color qualities.

I know optics designers used a century to define soft focus lens and I want to know what we learned as lens designers to design such a good pin sieve ?

Umut, can you point to an example of what you mean?

I really must admit, that is a very pretty image. I must look up pinsieve, as I am not familiar with such.

I like it too. I've got a link somewhere to a site that describes how to make a pinsieve and the mathematics behind it. I'll try to find the link and post it here.

You can google "whiz kid zone plate designer" for a site that includes math for zone plates and megapinhole (pin sieve). Terry

    Happy New Year Umut,

I can't find the link I was thinking of.

There was some pinhole seive design software by an f295 forum member.
Here's the link to that pinhole optics design page.

And here are a couple other links:
    http://pinhole.stanford.edu/zp.html
    http://pinholeday.org/docs/Zone_Plate_and_Sieves/

I'll keep looking and if I find the one I was thinking of I'll post it here.
