What is f295?
f295 is the worlds largest organization dedicated to the discussion, practice, and advancement of 21st Century Photography - a vision driven form of photography which freely combines historic methods, alternative processes, and adaptive techniques to create something new. There are nearly 2,000 people, located around the world, registered to participate in the online discussion forum.

A Short History of f295
f295 began with just a handful of members in June of 2004 as an online discussion forum for pinhole photography afficionados. The pinhole forum expanded in 2006 with a sister forum dedicated to alternative processes. In 2007 we held our first Symposium on Lensless, Alternative, and Adaptive Photographic Processes which featured 8 speakers, 10 hands-on workshops, 3 exhibitions, and was attended by approximately 75 people. In January 2008 we delivered the free Seminar on Alternative Photography at B&H Photo in New York City which was filled to capacity with a wait list of over 200. May 2008 brought the second symposium with 9 speakers, 12 hands-on workshops, 3 exhibitions, and was attended by over 150 people. We’re looking ahead to a second free seminar at B&H Photo in January 2009 and the third symposium in Pittsburgh, PA USA May 28-31, 2009.

The free discussion forum currently has nearly 2,000 registered participants, over 1GB of stored data, and averages over 400,000 clicks per month. We believe we have the worlds largest online collection of images, discussion, and how-to information regarding lensless, alternative, and adaptive photographic processes. We’re proud of the fact that our participants range in age from grade school to retired,  that we’ve been able to connect like minded individuals spread across vast geographic distance, and enabled conversations between people on all continents -in practically real time- uniting the world in the pursuit of art.

In addition f295, and some of its members, have been featured in articles in such notable publications as Ag, B&W Photo, Foto8.com, Silvershotz, takegreatpictures.com, View Camera, and many others!
